National selection round:

US national trials commenced in 2009, with interested bakers being received and auditioned by the Bread Bakers Guild Team. Auditions were held in California, North Carolina, New York, and Rhode Island. The Guild selected nine candidates (in the three categories of Bread, Viennese pastries and Artistic creation) to form the Bread Bakers Guild Team USA 2010.
In July 2010, a competition organised in California brought these nine bakers together to determine which three would make up the US national team for the Louis Lesaffre Cup.

The three winning candidates were appointed to represent their country at the Americas international selection round hold at the IBIE in September 2010.
